PetsNPatients NFP is asking pet sitters around the USA to join our mission and get listed with our website. When you donate pet care to our organization your direct intervention to assist a patient in your area you may help prevent a beloved pet from being re homed in already over crowded rescues or being euthanized by a patient's caregiver. Helping a patient's companion pet now with interim respite care, may prevent a re-homing or early death of a pet.
PetsNPatients NFP Pet Sitters Program Volunteers follow general best practices criteria while a pet is in their care:
- The sitter is bonded and insured and has references
- The sitter has experience in caring for pets and is clearly mindful of their safety and well-being.
- The sitter visits the client's home before the first pet sitting assignment to meet the pets and get detailed information about their care.
- The sitter shows a positive attitude during the initial meeting and is competent dealing with animals.
- The sitter wants to learn as much as possible about the animals in his or her care and be informed of the patient's status as permitted.
- The sitter will provides our PetsNPatients donation based agreement which specifies services and intake donation and any reduced fees upon intake.
- The sitter is courteous, interested and well informed and keeps petsnpatients abreast of the pet care.
- When doing a house sit, the sitter takes precautions to make sure a client's absence from home is not detected because of any careless actions or disclosures by the sitter.
- The sitter conducts business with honesty and integrity and observes all federal, state and local laws pertaining to business operations and animal care.
- The sitter has a trusted veterinarian on call for emergency services.
- The sitter has a contingency plan for pet care in case of inclement weather or personal illness.
- The sitter calls to confirm or has the client call to confirm the client has returned home as scheduled.
- The sitter keeps regular office hours and answers clients inquiries and complaints promptly.
